About ICLEE Conferene

The International Consortium of Landscape and Ecological Engineering (ICLEE) was established in 2004 through a collaborative effort among professional societies in Japan (including the Ecology and Civil Engineering Society, Japan Association for Landscape Ecology, and Japanese Society of Revegetation Technology), Korea (the Korea Institute of Landscape Architecture and Korean Society of Environmental Restoration Technology), and Taiwan (the Chinese Landscape Architects Society in Taiwan). The primary mission of ICLEE is to create a transnational platform for collaboration in East Asia by promoting environmental conservation and ecological restoration through academic exchange, knowledge transfer, and policy dialogue. Since 2005, the consortium has published the international journal Landscape and Ecological Engineering (LEE), which addresses major environmental challenges such as biodiversity loss, desertification, and global warming. Indexed in SCI-E since 2010, the journal focuses on integrating scientific, technological, and design approaches to ecosystem management.

ICLEE conferences are hosted annually on a rotational basis among Japan, Korea, and Taiwan to share cutting-edge research and collaborative strategies. Building on previous themes such as Green Infrastructure and Resilient Cities, the 2026 Conference of the International Consortium of Landscape and Ecological Engineering will take place from October 30 to November 1, 2026, at National Taiwan University in Taipei. Jointly organized by the Chinese Landscape Architects Society in Taiwan, National Taiwan University, and ICLEE, this upcoming event focuses on the theme “Adaptive Green Networks: Nature-Based Restoration for Resilient Landscapes.” This theme emphasizes the critical integration of nature-based solutions (NBS) into ecological engineering, landscape planning, climate adaptation, and biodiversity enhancement, with the ultimate goal of strengthening socio-ecological resilience to address global sustainability challenges.
